The freshly extracted, slightly yellowish colored venom is collected into a tray.  Often the venoms of multiple snakes, like cobras (Naja spp.), King cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) and Russell's viper (Daboia russelli) are mixed together. The light red coloration is blood that originates from scratching the snake's mouth while performing the venom extraction.
